The Symptoms of Fibromyalgia

There are many symptoms associated with Fibromyalgia. This is the one reason that medical professionals have such a hard time diagnosing Fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is a condition that mimics other medical issues. This is because the symptoms of Fibromyalgia are quite similar to symptoms of other medical conditions. In this article, we will review some of the more common symptoms of Fibromyalgia.

The main symptom of Fibromyalgia is the presence of pain through throughout the entire body. In order to be diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, one must have this pain throughout their body for at least three months, or more, on a consistent basis. Fibromyalgia knows no boundaries. The pain is widespread throughout the body. It could be present in any of the four quadrants of the body.

The second main symptom of Fibromyalgia is the specific area of the pain. The body has approximately eighteen “tender points”. In order to reach a successful diagnosis of Fibromyalgia, a person must have pain in at least eleven of these tender points throughout the body. The tender points are throughout the body. An example of these tender points and their location would be the back of the legs, just below the buttocks, and on the arms.

With the Fibromyalgia patient, there is an increased sensitivity to pain throughout the body. This pain may be at various locations throughout the body at various times, or it may remain in one place at a time. Many medical professionals attribute this pain to the fact that Fibromyalgia patients seem to have abnormal functioning in the central nervous system.

People with Fibromyalgia may have the symptoms of sleep disturbances. Many medical professionals state that patients have an imbalance with the melatonin level in the brain. There are many reasons that try to explain the sleep disturbances, none of which is 100% conclusive. People with Fibromyalgia may also experience sweating throughout the night, restless leg syndrome, as well as general fatigue throughout the day and night.

Many people who suffer from Fibromyalgia have what medical professionals refer to as “fibro fog”. This term is used to describe the condition of having memory lapses and other difficulties associated with memory and cognitive functioning. Fibromyalgia sufferers may forget details easily, may forget important dates, and may have trouble putting things together in their mind quickly.

It has been found that when a person has Fibromyalgia, they may suffer from disturbi8ng headaches. They may also suffer from temporomandibular joint syndrome, or TMJ, of the jaw. Other pains that are common with Fibromyalgia are pain in the feet, chest, and other locations.

Other symptoms of Fibromyalgia may include mood disorders, depression, anxiety, and panic. This is not a common symptom of all Fibromyalgia sufferers, but has been found in many patients. Many medical professionals contribute these characteristics to the serotonin imbalance that is common with the Fibromyalgia sufferer.

Fibromyalgia has many common symptoms. The ones listed in this article are simply the tip of the iceberg for many people. If you or someone that you knows suffers from any of these symptoms, be sure to see your doctor right away.
