Steps to Resting Well with Fibromyalgia

One of the main complaints among Fibromyalgia sufferers is the inability to get a good night’s sleep. There are many steps to resting well with Fibromyalgia. In this article, we will look at some of the top suggestions. If you or someone you know suffers from this chronic condition, this article is for you. The following suggestions should not take the place of professional medical advice. Any of the steps listed in this article should be discussed with your doctor to see if they are right for you.

One of the first things that a sufferer of Fibromyalgia should consider is a melatonin imbalance in the brain. It sounds complicated, but it is quite simple. Have you ever noticed that, in low light, you may start to feel sleepy? That is melatonin working in your body! When the sun comes up, or there is bright light, it is what sends the messages to your brain that it is time to wake up. When it gets dark, or the light is low, melatonin is what sends the messages to your brain that it is time to rest. You can buy melatonin supplements over-the-counter for less than $7.00. You could try taking two of these supplements about two hours prior to bedtime and see if this helps. If it does, you should rest well with Fibromyalgia.

If you wish to rest well with Fibromyalgia, you should ensure that you set a regular bedtime for yourself and stick to it. You should ensure that you try to get to bed at the same time each night, and wake up at the same time each morning. You should also try to avoid taking naps throughout the day. Getting too much sleep during the daytime hours can interfere with the sleep that you require at night.

Another way to rest well with Fibromyalgia is to ensure that you reduce the amount of caffeine that you consume during the day. It has been found that caffeine can remain in your body for approximately fourteen hours after consuming it. This means that you should avoid caffeine at the minimum of at least four hours prior to bedtime. This can greatly benefit you in the area of resting well.

You can also implement the use of aromatherapy if you are trying to rest well with Fibromyalgia. There are numerous ways to implement aromatherapy into your rest cycles. The first way is to apply the scent of oil directly onto your skin, or simply smell it. You may also burn incense, and aromatherapy candles. You may wish to lightly mist the air in your bedroom with a relaxing scent and/or take a warm bath with a relaxing scent mixed in the water.

You can rest well with Fibromyalgia numerous ways. You simply must find the way that you are most comfortable with and use the method that is most convenient for you.
